PRM manufacturer Baumann, has previewed its new purpose-built PRM transporter in a new video prior to the official launch at inter airport<\/em> Europe 2017 (Oct 10-13, Stand F68).<\/strong><\/p>\n

The video shows the machine, the first GSE machine of its type to overcome the disadvantages of traditional modified \u2018Ambulift\u2019 vehicles, at the manufacturer\u2019s Italian factory loading a wheelchair passenger and being raised to over eight meters.<\/p>\n

Raising passengers smoothly and without a pantograph, stabilizers, mast or chains, PaxLift utilises three lifting columns to provide a smooth, safe lift, with fully hydraulic suspension for maximum comfort during driving. It\u2019s design has already impressed Du\u0308sseldorf Airport (DUS), which is set to become the first customer, and the judges of the inter airport<\/em> Europe Innovation awards, where it\u2019s been shortlisted in the interRamp category.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe evolution of PaxLift was a natural consequence of our earlier work in this field,\u201d adds Klaus. \u201cWe began collaborating on ground support equipment\u00a0when we worked with\u00a0Lufthansa Leos and Catcon to produce the first sideloader-based trucks.\u00a0Whilst this type of equipment is still on the market, our experience\u00a0with raising and transporting materials led us to look at new and better ways of providing safer, smoother and more practical ways to transport PRM and VIP passengers.\u201d<\/p>\n

With a proud and distinguished history, combining generations of engineering expertise, modern craftsmanship and a spirit of innovation, Baumann believes their equipment has to present a high standard of quality. Standard trucks are fitted with a Stage 4 Final Diesel engine; electric trucks are also planned for next year.<\/p>\n

Integrated suspension makes the operation fast and smooth, whilst the hydraulically powered steering axle ensures continuous reliability and performance.\u201d<\/p>\n
