We were delighted to recently welcome visitors from Chek Lap Kok International Airport, also known as Hong Kong International, one of the busiest airports in the world, and our latest PaxLift customer.

Handling 68.5 million passengers in 2015, HKIA is an important regional centre for destinations across China and the rest of Asia, with around 65,000 employees and over 100 airlines operating and connecting to over 180 cities across the globe. It is famous for being rapidly developed on reclaimed land as part of a huge infrastructure project. Construction of the airport was voted as one of the Top 10 Construction Achievements of the 20th Century and the terminal buildings remain a model of convenience and design excellence.

Despite already being a world-class facility, the airport is in the middle of an upgrade that will not be fully completed for another four years. Continued development was paused as the world was placed on high alert due to Covid-19 outbreak in early 2020, and local restrictions were quickly enforced.

All non-Hong Kong residents coming from overseas countries were denied entry by the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, but HKIA received special permission to visit PaxLift HQ as final testing and certification neared completion.

Mr Leo Chan and Mr Cheong Ho were extremely pleased to see the equipment in person, with the comfort and quality of the upgraded vehicle exceeding their expectations. The PaxLift then headed to the port of Savona, once home to the famous navigator, Christopher Columbus, before making its onward journey to the Far East.

Raising passengers smoothly and without a pantograph, stabilizers, mast or chains, PaxLift utilises three lifting columns to provide a smooth, safe lift, with fully hydraulic suspension for maximum comfort during driving. Meanwhile the latest PaxLift delivers the most impressive performance yet, with new safety measures, cameras and sensors to allow operators to deliver a modern, professional service. Inside the cabin there is room for up to six wheelchairs, plus folding seats for 10. Full air conditioning and heating plus soft LED lighting makes the environment as comfortable as possible.
